Dear customers,

Since the launch of Messenger Group service, it got many supports and the service works well.  Now there are millions of users from all over the world creating with hundreds of thousands of groups.

In the first beginning, Messenger Group only supports Windows Live Messenger platform, now we extend it to Yahoo Messenger, and in the future AIM, Skype and Gtalk platforms will be compatible with.  We hope all IM users can chat in a IM group.  So we decide to rename the service as groups.im, and the website is changed as http://groups.im accordingly. 

Meanwhile, we remove the number limit for group member list.  In the past, a group only has 900 members at most, now a group can have unlimited members, and it’s still free to use!

In the end of November, an another good feature Group Zone will be opened for you.  At that time each group will have a web space, which members can discuss there and share photos etc..

As we are upgrading the Windows Live Messenger protocol now, some groups maybe are offline for a short time.   This problem will be solved this weekend.

It’s a funny game, each group member can join in.

In this game, each member will be given a mask, and nobody knows who you are. You can play tricks in the game, say what you want to say. When the group CEO or admin turn off the game, masks will be taken back and everyone are in their true name again.

We update the Messenger Group today.  The new update includes:

1. Supporting Yahoo Messenger

Now Yahoo Messenger users can use Messenger group service.  YM users just do the same as Windows Live Messenger users to create or join a group, only need to add a group account into the contact list.  Meanwhile, WLM and YM users can join in the same group and chat together. Try now!

Please be aware that Yahoo Messenger users can only use chat and command function, excludes to open the Activity Panel.

2. Command list update

According to users’ feedback, we update the command list, such as “/open” can be replaced with “/o”.

We also modify some commands, such as the command to create a new group, the original command “/new <group name>” is changed as “/create <group name>”.

Furthermore, we add some new commands, as type “/admin” to see who is the CEO and admin of the group.

Remarks: The original commands are still useful currently, we plan to stop those originals two months later.  Please be quick to used to the new commands.

First we want to give our sincere thanks and best wishes to you all, thanking you for all your support about our service.

The following are some latest news of Messenger Group:

1.    Yahoo Messenger support: we will release a group system next week, adding Yahoo Messenger support.  At that time Yahoo Messenger users and Windows Live Messenger users can join a same group and chat together.  And we will support more IM tools in the near future, such as AIM and Gtalk etc..

2.    Rename the service: for some reasons, we must change the name Messenger Group into groups.im, the website name will be changed as http://groups.im accordingly.
3.    Users feedback and Bugs: we decide to deploy a Kayako eSupport system for users feedback and bugs to replace the former Help&Bugs part.  With this system, it will avoid many repeated problems, convenient for us to track and receive Ticket solving notices. 4.    Multi-language Blog: we have used WordPress MU version to build more than ten languages blog, we will translate and release it soon.
5.    Group Zone: we are planning and designing a Group Zone system, which each group will have an individual zone to use forum(BBS) and gallery features.

As some malfunctions with Windows Live service, Messenger group also has problems accordingly:

When you create a new group or join a group, maybe the group is offline but you still can chat with others in the group or open the Activity Panel etc.. If you cannot send a nudge, please try to type /open. (If you cannot use the command, please try again later.)

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may caused. We are contacting with Windows Live service providers now and hope these problems will be fixed soon.

Dear Messenger Group V2 users,

Thanks for your quick and kind feedback about our product, now we find two big bugs since its launch.  Please read the following carefully:

1. When opening the activity panel, an error appears (please see the figure)

If your group also have such problem, please do as:
Step1: sign-out and close your Windows Live Messenger;
Step2: clear out your Internet Explorer cache and local files, then close all IE windows;

Clearing Your Browser’s Cache

All those files stored in your cache take up space, so from time to time, you may want to clear out the files stored in your cache to free up some space on your computer. This is called clearing the cache.

To clear your cache:

1.

On the Internet Explorer 6 Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.

2.

On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button. This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache.

Click OK, and then click OK again.

Tip: You can adjust your Internet Explorer 6 settings to automatically clear the cache whenever you close Internet Explorer 6. Go to the Tools menu, and click Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab. In the "Settings" box, scroll down to the section labeled "Security," and click to check the box next to the "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed" option. Click OK to finish. This option does not delete cookies, but it will clear your cache of other files when you close your browser.

Step3: sign-in Windows Live Messenger again and the error will disappear.

2. Language-select interface refreshes again and again when opening the activity panel, please see the figure

If you are using non-English Windows operating system, the above bug will appear.  We are trying to solve this bug now and will debug it soon.  Thanks for your patience and support.

We are pleased to inform that Messenger Group V2 (beta 2) will be released today.

In beta 2, we make many improvements, the changes are:
· Improve the visual feature for activity panel: the new panel is equipped with a new design and looks very beautiful.

· Optimize the functions of activity panel: users can click the Messenger Group Logo in the upper left corner to back to panel home, and guide page uses Tab list instead of dropdown menu, more convenient to use.  There are also many shortcut icons to use.
· Add a Quick-Launch Bar in the bottom of activity panel: users can visit the Messenger Group official website more quickly and to create or search groups conveniently.
· Add Group Rules function in the home of activity panel: CEO and admins can use it to set group rules, announcement or make notices etc..
· Add Description function: users can use it to type details about themselves or for group.
· Add Quit function: users can click the button "Quit" in activity panel to quit a group.
· Release My MG function: users can check their groups or even groups of their contacts on Messenger (needs to sign-in Messenger account) .
· Release Invite Friends function: login Messenger account to invite friends in batch to use Messenger group.

Tips: As the German version Messenger Group is under translation, beta 2 has no German version currently.  But we will release it soon when we finish the translation.

We just published an update of website, including following changes:

• Modification of navigation.
• Two lists of My Group and Friend’s Group which require login added. You can easily find the groups you and your friends joined or created.
• You can see the details of any group by clicking groups in the Group List which includes all groups’ detail.

Recently there are many malicious websites spreading through Windows Live Messenger. They are inducing Messenger users to type Messenger account and password by sending messages as “Review the signature of your friends on MSN?” or “Check who has blocked you on MSN”, and then send various offline messages or junk mails to all contacts of a Messenger user. Unfortunately, we find such malicious websites spreading in Messenger Group too, bringing a potential risk to group users. So we decide to collect such malicious websites link and do actions to block these links automatically in Messenger Group.
